Association Newsletter Earns Top National USBC Award
The Between the Gutters Central Alabama USBC Association newsletter won first place in the United States Bowling Congress (USBC) national media award in the newsletter category. As a result of claiming the first place prize, the association received a check in the amount of $500 from USBC. Considering all the associations in the USBC, this is quite an honor. However, this would not have been possible without the dedication and hard work of Editor and Director Tina Salyer. She plans, designs, and edits the quarterly newsletter. Congratulations on a job well done Tina!
Youth and Senior Teams Set Records
The Ten in the Pit 15-18 age youth team set a possible Central Alabama and Alabama State record while participating in the 3rd Annual Youth Tournament held at Bama Lanes on March 15, 2009. They bowled games of 838-879-879 for a 2596 series. Members of the team and their scores were: Michael Salyer 669, Jason Scott 585, Barry White 662 and Matt Brannan 680.
Also the 1st Place Trophies team in the Carolyn Gordon Super Seniors claims the high game for a two men and 1 women category with a 749 scratch game just missing out on national recognition by one pin. Team members were David Atkinson 268, Ruth Coleman 217, and Don Coleman 264.
