Youth Invitational Tournament 2010 Rules
Tournament Participation and Fees: Participation is by invitation only and does not require the bowler to pay any fees. All bowlers that qualify in the Scratch division must bowl Scratch in the QIT. Bowlers who qualified in the handicap division and have a current certified season final average of 180 and above may request to bowl Scratch when they accept the invitation to participate (decision to move must be made by reply date July 5, 2010).
Tournament Averages: The tournament divisions will be based on certified averages as of entry closing date of July 5, 2010. Average Divisions will be, (Scratch Division 180 & Above, Division I 155-179, Division II 130-154, Division III 100-129, and Division IV 99 & Below). Bowlers will participate using their highest certified league average for the 2009-2010 season as of July 5, 2010. Averages will be based upon a minimum of 21 games bowled. If qualifier bowled in multiple leagues, the highest certified league average must be used. If average is from a Sport league, the average must be adjusted to the standard average using the USBC Sport League Average Adjustment Chart. Handicap divisions will be 100% of 220.
Eligibility: Eligible qualifiers must be present on assigned lanes and ready to bowl at time play begins or they will not be allowed to participate. USBC and CAA tournament rules and regulations shall govern the tournament. Tournament play will be at Ace Bowling Center, Montgomery, on Saturday, July 10, 2010 for Divisions I, II and Scratch and Sunday, July 11, 2010 for Divisions III & IV. Check-in for the tournament will start at 8:30 AM, Practice will start at 9:00 AM and the tournament will start at 9:15 AM. Closing date for positive responses will be June 30, 2010.
Tournament Format: The qualifying round of three (3) games across one pair of lanes for divisions III and IV and five (5) games across two pair of lanes (lane change after game three (3)) for Division I, II and the Scratch Division. The Top five (5) scores in each division will then move to the Match Play round which will be bowled in the traditional Stair-Step Format. In all divisions, the highest score will be named the Top seed and the next four (4) will be qualifiers. The Stair-Step Format will start with the 5th Qualifier bowling a one (1) game match against the 4th Qualifier. The winner will advance to bowl a one game match against the 3rd Qualifier. The winner of that match will advance to bowl a one game match against the 2nd Qualifier. The winner of that match will advance to bowl a one game match against the Top Qualifier. The winner of this match will be declared the Association Champion. Once the Qualifying round is bowled, any bowler not present at the time qualifiers are announced will be declared disqualified and the next high score will occupy the position. Once an alternate has been awarded the position, the original qualifier is no longer eligible to compete. Any ties during the Qualifying Round or Stair-Step matches will be broken by a 9th and 10th frame roll-off immediately upon confirmation of the tie. Any bowler not available to bowl tiebreakers will forfeit their right to a roll-off. Handicap will apply to roll-off in the Handicap Divisions. Any bowler unable to complete any game will receive a score of zero (0) and be eliminated from further competition. During the Stair-Step matches, the higher qualifier entering the match will be given the opportunity to roll two balls on each lane for warm up and choose whether they want to start or finish the match. Each match will be bowled PBA style where the first bowler bowls one frame to start the match, and then each bowler will bowl two consecutive frames from that point on. In the Handicap Divisions, the qualifiers tournament handicap will be added to the automatic scorer each match.
Code of Conduct: USBC and CAA code of conduct applies. There will be no use of tobacco products, to include smokeless by youth bowlers while participating in the tournament. Abusive language will not be tolerated. The sale and consumption of alcohol beverages will not be permitted while tournament is in session. Bowlers who misuse or abuse center or personal equipment, engages in obscene body motions, uses inappropriate language or is caught behaving in an inappropriate manner will receive one warning, second infraction will result in immediate disqualification from tournament. Bowlers are not allowed to play coin operated or handheld amusement machines, or listen to any video or audio equipment during tournament play. Cell phones are not allowed in the bowler’s area and will not be used by bowlers while participating in tournament.
Dress Code: Proper attire is required. Long pants (no sweat pants, or shorts) and a collar shirt/blouse are required for this tournament. Female blouses will not be worn if excessive cleavage is shown. Pants will not have holes or sag, or drag below bowling shoes. Capri pants are acceptable for girls (must touch below calf). Clothing which advertise or otherwise promote alcohol and/or tobacco, have inappropriate writing or patches will not be worn. Hats, bandanas or visors are not authorized during tournament play unless a written medical reason is provided. Sunglasses will not be worn during tournament play unless written medical reason is provided. The Tournament Director will make the final decision on any questions concerning the dress code.
