Huntsville USBC 2008 Open Championship Tournament Rules


1. Unites States Bowling Congress Rules and Regulations will govern this tournament.

2. All members of the Huntsville USBC Association are eligible to enter. Participants must be members of the Huntsville USBC 30 days prior to entry close date.

3. Entries close at midnight January 27, 2008. Mailed entries postmarked in accordance with USBC Rule 310a(2) shall be accepted.

4. Cash Awards. (Handicap Division) - Cash awards will be made on a basis of one out of five entries in Team, Doubles, Singles and All-Events. (Scratch Division) - The Scratch Prize Fund shall be 5% of the Total Prize Fee from each event (Team, Doubles, Singles and All-Events).

5. Championship Trophies and USBC Championship Chevrons will be presented to champions in Team, Doubles, Singles and All-Events for both Handicap and Scratch. All-Events Scratch winner will be the Huntsville USBC Association Open Champion.

6. To be eligible for the All-Events Prize Fund (optional), a fee of $5.00 must accompany entry.

7. Multiple Participation. No individual shall bowl more than three (3) times in the Team Event. Entrants may bowl twice (2) in Doubles; however, the partner must change. Entrants may bowl in Singles only once. Bowlers must bowl Doubles and Singles if entered in either. In Team Event, not more than two (2) bowlers on the same team can place more than once in the prize list for the position standings. Bowlers first scores in each event shall count towards their All-Events score.

8. Handicap shall be 90% of the difference between entrant's individual average and 220 in each event.

9. Averages. Entrants must use their highest USBC Sanctioned Winter League Average based on 21 or more games for the 2006-2007 season. 2007 Summer League Averages will be used based on 21 or more games if no 2006-2007 Winter League Average. If no average for the 2006-2007 Winter or 2007 Summer, use highest current sanctioned average based on 21 games or more as of January 1, 2008. All other bowlers must bowl scratch. USBC Rule 319a (10 Pin Rule) APPLIES FOR THIS TOURNAMENT. If your current average, as of January 1, 2008 is 10 pins higher than your 2005-2006 Winter or 2006 Summer average, you must use your current average.

10. Tournament management reserves the right to rerate any entrant prior to bowling. If the entrant refuses the rerate, entry fees will be refunded. Entrants have the right to appeal any rerate to the USBC within 15 days of the date of bowling or prior to the payment of prizes, whichever comes first.

11. Failure to use the proper average or make a correction prior to the completion of the first game of a series shall disqualify score if submitted average is lower than actual average or prize winnings will be based on submitted average if it is higher.

12. Tournament prizes will not be awarded until the winner's averages have been certified by the Association Manager.

13. After entries have been received and the dates assigned by tournament management and they are not refused by the team or individual entrant prior to preparation of the schedule, no fees shall be refunded.

14. No change in team lineups will be allowed unless substitutes are involved and if so, changes must be made one (1) hour before the scheduled time to bowl.

15. Substitutes must present themselves to the tournament management at least one (1) hour before scheduled to bowl and their averages must be verified.

16. All-Events Transfer Affidavit. In order to tranfer All-Events in this tournament, the transfer must be made before either the original entrant or the replacement has bowled and a replacement affidavit must be completed prior to that time by either the original entrant or team captain.

17. Pacers will not be permitted.

18. Students who have not attained the age of eighteen (18) must have written consent of their parents or guardians in order to enter.

19. Entry Fees. All entry fees must accompany a completed entry form. No forms will be accepted without entry fee.

20. All-Events trophies will be donated by the Huntsville USBC Association.
