Huntsville USBC Women's City Tournament Rules


1.

1. This tournament, conducted solely for female bowlers, shall be conducted in accordance with applicable USBC rules governing sanctioned tournament and the USBC general playing rule, in addition to the rules adopted by the HUSBC board of directors. The association manager shall be the tournament manager. The HUSBC board of directors shall decide any questions not covered by these tournament rules and shall have the power to hear and act on all protests concerning the tournament.

2. Entrants must be members in good standing of HUSBC and USBC. Students who have not attained the age of 18 years must furnish written authorization to enter, signed by parent or guardian, and attached to this entry.

3. All prize money collected shall be returned 100%. 85% in Handicap and 15% in Scratch events. Prize money will be awarded on a ratio of 1 for each 5 entries. All prize funds shall be distributed within 30 days following the close of the tournament, except when USBC has authorized delay in payment pending the settlement of any claim or protest, which affects position standings.

 HANDICAP shall be 90% of the difference between entrant's average and 210.

AVERAGES-Entrants shall use final highest USBC average of the 2006-2007 winter season for 21 games bowled, regardless of the association where it was established. If no previous winter season average, an entrant shall use highest USBC average as of the end of the 2007 summer season, provided she has bowled 21 games or more. If no previous Winter or Summer average, an entrant shall use her high current USBC average as of December 24, 2007 for 21 games. If 21 games have not been bowled entrant will use average as of February 9, 2008, if 12 games have been bowled. An entrant, who does not qualify under the above, shall bowl scratch. It shall be each bowler’s responsibility to verify the accuracy of her average in this tournament whether originally submitted by the bowler, team captain, or others. Failure to use the proper average and not make a correction prior to the time of bowling shall disqualify her score if the submitted average is lower than the correct average. The prize winnings will be based on submitted average if it is higher. All winners’ averages are subject to further verification by tournament chairman. Rule 319a-2 will not apply.

MULTIPLE PARTICIPATION-An entrant may participate in the team event multiple times; however not more than two (2) players on one team can place more than once in the prize list for position standings. An entrant may participate in Doubles multiple times; however the partner must change. Entrants may bowl in Singles only once, but must participate in both events. First Team, First Doubles, and Singles scores shall count toward an entrant’s All Events.

DOUBLES AND SINGLES will be bowled on same pair of lanes, Singles is bowled first.

SUBSTITUTIONS with averages certified must be made at least ½ hour before scheduled time to bowl, if possible. Substitutions made because of emergencies are subject to approval of the tournament manager. In order to transfer All Events, the transfer must be made before either the original entrant or substitute has bowled any of the events, and the transfer notification must be completed prior to that time by the team captain. In order to qualify for All Events, the bowler must substitute for the same person in all three events, provided All Events has been paid for by the original entrant. In case of disability after a game has started, substitute will be permitted if available, combined score to count. This applies to team and doubles events only. Entering handicap will be prorated on each frame for each bowler. No change in team line-up will be allowed unless substitution is involved and the only change made will be the one of the individuals involved.

9.

Tardy players will receive zero for frames missed.

10.

Ties for first place in any event shall be declared co-champions with first and second place prize divided equally. Any other ties - the prize will be combined and then divided equally among the tied position winners, except last place ties will be paid duplicate amount to be taken from expense fund.

Pacers will not be permitted for any event.

12.

Team captains are responsible for notifying each member of her team of all rules of the tournament and shall distribute prize money within 15 days of receipt.

13.

ERRORS - Any protest effecting eligibility or general playing rules must be confirmed in writing to the tournament manager before the tournament prize money payments are made. Errors in scoring must be reported to the tournament manager within 24 hours.

14.

No one will be permitted in the bowler's area other than bowlers, scorekeepers, or a tournament official.

15.

Members are requested to wear proper attire when participating in the tournament.

16. Entries close midnight January 26, 2008. All entries postmarked the first post office business day following the entry closing date shall be accepted. Closing date will not be extended. Make all checks or money orders payable the HUSBC (No Cash Please). Entry fees must accompany properly completed forms. No refunds will be made after dates have been accepted. Any necessary changes in schedule shall be made at the discretion of the tournament manager.
