ROCKET CITY TOURNAMENT RULES

1.

USBC SANCTIONED: USBC Sanctioned Tournament Rules will govern this tournament. All participants will be required to show their USBC membership cards. Eligible non­members may obtain membership cards by paying individual Associated membership dues.

All prize fees will be returned 100% within each event, on a ratio of 1 prize for each 10 entries, 90% of prize fund will be paid on a handicap basis and 10% on a scratch basis. In the event of a tie for any position, prize monies for the positions will be combined and equally divided between tied teams.

a). Bowlers will use their Rocket City Tournament average from 2008 and/or 2007 if they bowled 15 games or more and their Rocket City Tournament average is 10 pins higher than their USBC Sanctioned League Average.
b). Participants will use their highest USBC Sanctioned League Average based on a minimum of 21 games for the 2008-2009 season unless Rule 3a) applies. For participants without a previous winter season average, verifiable summer league averages based on 21 games or more are acceptable unless Rule 3a) applies. Those without previous 2008-2009 winter or summer league average may use their current verifiable average as of November 1, 2009 average based on 21 games or more unless Rule 3a) applies. All others will bowl scratch.
c). If you have averaged 15 pins more than your entering average during the past 3 years, you must report it to the tournament office prior to bowling. Failure to do so will result in possible disqualification.

It shall be each bowler's responsibility to submit a verifiable average to the Rocket City Tournament Manager. Bowlers who fail to submit a certified average will be considered 210 average and receive no handicap. Average certifications must be received no later than one week after the end of the tournament if requested by tournament manager. Local association 2008-2009 yearbook averages or league records will be considered official.

All participants should be familiar with USBC Rule 319 pertaining to average. Rule 319a-e applies. When the previous season’s average is used, and at the time of bowling an entrant has a current average for 21 or more games that is 10 pins or more higher than the prior season’s average, the current average must be used. USBC Adjusted Rule 319e will apply. The Rocket City reserves the right to adjust averages after bowling based on information regarding USBC Rule 319e. Tournament scores must be submitted by the bowler within 10 days after bowling to avoid disqualification. Any adjustment made based on this rule, will apply for the remainder of the tournament year unless a current average or higher adjustment exceeds the original average adjustment. Any participant who has won $600.00 or more in any event or tournament during previous 12 month period must report actual scores, position, and amount won to the tournament management prior to bowling. The Rocket City Tournament manager reserves the right to re-rate bowler based on his/her 2008 and/or 2007 Rocket City Tournament average prior to or within 24 hours after bowling.

All bowlers will be required to initial averages submitted as correct prior to the start of competition.

7.

The tournament manager reserves the right to refuse any or all entries, as well as the right to re­rate a bowler's average prior to the start of competition.

8. HANDICAP WILL BE 90% BASED ON 210 SCRATCH. Maximum handicap is 72 pins per game. Individual method of handicapping will be used.

9.

Bowl as often as you wish subject to Rules A and B below.
A. Team Event -No more than two bowlers on same team can place more than once in the prize list.
B. Doubles Event -Participant may cash only one time with the same partner.

10.

NO PBA MEMBERS WILL BE ALLOWED TO BOWL IN THIS TOURNAMENT.

11.

Reserve entries may be postmarked no later than October 31, 2009. Open and re­entries must be made by 3:00 P.M. December 6, 2009.

12.

Additional squads may be added during the course of the tournament; however, no squad may be added after the final squad scheduled for 3:00 P.M. on December 6, 2009.

13.

Errors in scoring must be reported to the tournament manager for corrections within 24 hours after games have been bowled. Official scores will be taken from automatic scorer print­outs per USBC Rule 327. Re­bowling of game or frame(s) within a game irretrievable lost in the scoring process is permitted with the tournament manager's approval (USBC Rule 327c).

14.

Employees of Pin Palace will not be allowed to bowl together as doubles partners. No more than two employees will be allowed to bowl on the same team.

15.

Substitutions are permitted but must be made 30 minutes prior to start of shift.

16.

All balls are subject to inspection and weight and/or balance checked. Abrasives will not be used on bowling balls during competition.

17.

Premature termination of the tournament brought about by war, national emergency or emergency causes relating thereto or therefrom, fire, natural disaster or any other reason beyond the control of the Rocket City 40th Annual Tournament shall cause, to the extent required thereby, all advertised prizes, guaranteed or otherwise, to be prorated in accordance with the number of entrants who have bowled in each of the respective events up to the time of such termination.

18.

Any rule not covered will be decided on by the Tournament Manager or USBC Rule Book.

19.

CHECK­IN SHALL BE AT LEAST 30 MINUTES PRIOR TO START OF SHIFT.

20. Brackets and Side Pot will be run during the Rocket City Tournament during Team squads.  Entries will be accepted before the completion of practice of each squad.  All brackets or side pot winning must be collected before a bowler leaves the center.  Any uncollected winnings will be deposited in the tournament account as expense money.
