Search Tips

The search engine used here is intended only for relatively unsophisticated searches. Here are a few tips to help you find the items you're looking for:

Entering Keywords * Searches are not case-sensitive: mobile = Mobile, MOBILE and moBile

* Searches match whole words: bowl = bowl, but not bowling. (Wildcard characters, such as * and ? are not permitted.) Similarly, searches don't automatically match plurals: If you want to find leagues as well as league, enter both, as league leagues.

* Searches ignore punctuation and hyphens: plamor = Pla-Mor. Don't search for possessives (e.g., mccorvey's), just enter word without punctuation.

* Searches can't find phrases (for example, you can't enter "John Doe" to find the particular person), but they can find pages containing more than one keyword - which may obtain the desired result, especially if you use the + sign in front of the keywords.

For example:

A search for Montgomery WIBC found 74 documents, most of them containing the word WIBC. But +montgomery +wibc found just 5 documents, each one having BOTH keywords in the search

(This isn't foolproof: An attempt to find Alabama State Tournament Standings by entering +alabama +state +tournament +standings found some documents containing all these words - but not as a single string.)

* When you go to the full text of a web page cited in Search Results, the search words are not highlighted - but a quick way to find them is to use your browser's capability to search the currently displayed page. (In Internet Explorer, go to Edit/Find(on this page); in Netscape Navigator, go to Edit/Find...)

* Some league standings are in an image format. League secretary software from CDE Software only exports standings in image format. The search engine used on AlabamaBowling.Com cannot search for words in an image.

About the Search Utility The search program used on this site is a freely available, open-source utility produced by Perlfect Solutions. The program indexes the site once every other day.
