Christmas Mixed Doubles Tournament Rules

Tournament Description: Tournament is sponsored by the Tuscaloosa USBC Association and certified by USBC. Format is handicap mixed doubles. Tournament funds will be used to sponsor a family for Christmas.

Tournament Date/Time: Sunday, December 6, 2009. Start time is 2:00 pm, with check-in at 1:15 pm

Tournament Locations: Leland Lanes and AMF Bama Lanes – bowl at the center of your choice

Entry Fee: $20.00 per bowler or $40.00 per doubles team.

Entries Closed: Eligible participants may sign up during tournament check-in time.

1. PARTICIPANTS – The tournament format is three games of handicap mixed doubles, with teams consisting of one man and one woman. All participants must be current members of the Tuscaloosa USBC Association.
2. MULTIPLE PARTICIPATION – Multiple participation is allowed—a bowler may compete with more than one partner. Bowler pays full $20 entry fee for first entry, then $15 for each additional entry.
3. HANDICAP – Based on 90% of 210.
4. PRIZE FUND – The tournament prize fund is guaranteed as follows: 1st place $100.00, 2nd Place $75.00, and 3rd Place $50.00. All money collected through entry fees or donations – less the lineage – will be used to sponsor Christmas for a local family.
5. ENTERING AVERAGES – Entrants will use their highest USBC sanctioned book average for the 2008/09 season. Bowlers without a valid regular season average will use their highest 2008/09 summer league average provided the average is based on at least 21 games. Bowlers without a regular season or summer average will use their highest current 2009/10 average of at least 21 games, as of 5 December 2009. Bowlers without a current average will be required to bowl with a 210 average. The 10-pin rule applies (USBC Rule 319a2). Rules 319d and 319e are waived.
6. AVERAGE RESPONSIBILITY – It shall be each entrant’s responsibility to verify the accuracy of his/her average (Rule 319a3) whether originally submitted by the entrant or anyone else. Failure to use the proper average shall disqualify the score if the submitted average is lower than the actual average. Prize winnings shall be based on the submitted average if it is higher than the actual average.
7. AGE REQUIREMENT - Unmarried grade and high school students who have not attained the age of eighteen must have written consent of their parents and/or guardian in order to participate (USBC Rule 13).
8. PROBLEMS/DISPUTES – Any problems and/or disputes which may occur and are not covered by these tournament rules or USBC rules shall be decided upon by the Tournament Committee.
9. TOURNAMENT DISRUPTION – Premature termination of the tournament brought about by war, national emergency or emergency causes relating thereto or therefrom fire, natural disaster, or any other reason beyond the control of the Tuscaloosa USBC shall cause, to the extent required thereby, all advertised prizes, guaranteed or otherwise, to be prorated in accordance with the number of entrants who have bowled in the respective event up to the time of such termination.
